Miami Sunday Weather: Near 80 by Breakfast, Rain Chance 49 Percent as the Flood Watch Opens at 10 A.M. (Miami Watch News)

The first morning of standard time did not stay cool for long. Miami stood at 79.7 degrees, feeling like 82.6, under a mainly clear sky when the station's live weather feed was read at about 7:27 a.m. CT — up from 77.1 degrees at the 5 a.m. file, on the way to a Sunday high of 81.3 with a low of 73.8.

Sunday's rain line has firmed up since dawn. The feed now codes the day as rain showers (code 80) with a 49 percent precipitation chance, up from the 45 percent drizzle reading carried in the morning file. The Flood Watch is unchanged and still governs the day: it covers Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties from 10 a.m. EST Sunday through Monday afternoon, and a mainly clear breakfast sky does not cancel it.

Monday remains a wet day, if a shade less so than overnight readings suggested: rain showers (code 82) at a 64 percent chance, a high of 79.4 and a low of 72.1. Election Day Tuesday keeps its thunderstorm code (95) at 64 percent, with a high of 82.5 — the day's voters and poll workers should plan for a storm somewhere in it.

The drying trend behind the front half of the week is real. Wednesday's showers sit at 28 percent, Thursday turns warmer and mostly dry at 86.3 degrees with drizzle at 21 percent, Friday is coded clear (code 0) at 86.7 and 14 percent, and Saturday's drizzle chance is down to 7 percent. Sunday's job is simply to get through the watch window dry-shod where possible.
