Miami Weather Overnight: Both Coastal Alerts Extended to Monday 7 P.M. as the Flood Watch Opens at 10 A.M.
NWS Miami's 1:57 a.m. issuances pushed the Rip Current Statement and the Coastal Flood Advisory to Monday evening. The Flood Watch for all of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach runs 10 a.m. Sunday to 3 p.m. Monday, with the heaviest thunderstorms due Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service in Miami extended both of South Florida's coastal alerts overnight. The Rip Current Statement and the Coastal Flood Advisory, reissued at 1:57 a.m. Sunday, now run through 7 p.m. Monday - the rip current statement had been set to expire at 7 a.m. Monday, and the coastal flood advisory at 7 p.m. Sunday. Both cover coastal Miami-Dade, with minor to moderate coastal flooding possible: flooding of lots, parks and roads, with isolated road closures, and rip currents that can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore.
The Flood Watch itself, issued at 12:43 a.m., takes effect at 10 a.m. Sunday and runs to 3 p.m. Monday for all of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, the Weather Service said. An upper-level low moving atop Florida will add moisture and support for showers and storms, and strong low-level easterly flow will bring bands of repeated rainfall; the main impact is expected to be street flooding and road closures, with isolated to scattered flash flooding possible.
The wettest hours may arrive before the watch formally opens. Weather.com's Miami hourly timeline read overnight showed thunderstorms building Sunday morning and turning heavy in the 7 to 11 a.m. window, then scattered thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening, with east winds of 17 to 18 mph gusting to about 30. The station's own live feed was more measured on its daily line - rain showers for Sunday (code 81, high 82, low 73, a 49 percent precipitation chance) and Monday (code 82, 70 percent) - while keeping a thunderstorm (code 95) on Election Day Tuesday at a 64 percent chance.
For the final day of early voting, the practical read is a wet morning trip and standing water on low streets around high tide. The feed dries out late in the week: drizzle codes Thursday and Friday at 21 and 14 percent, and an overcast, mostly dry Saturday at 7 percent.
