Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Miami's organized trick-or-treating runs from mid-afternoon into the night - Coral Gables and South Miami in the afternoon, Lincoln Road, Biscayne Park, Hialeah and Miami Lakes after dark, and a Lincoln Road block party until 1 a.m.

Halloween Tonight in Miami: Lincoln Road, Trick-or-Treat on the Mile, Safe Streets and More (Miami Watch News)

The afternoon belongs to Coral Gables and South Miami. Trick-or-Treat on the Mile runs from 3 to 6 p.m. along Miracle Mile in downtown Coral Gables, with participating businesses handing out candy and related programming - face painting, balloon art and a magic show - starting at 2 p.m., according to the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau listing. In South Miami, Safe Streets Halloween closes Sunset Drive from US 1 to SW 57th Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. for trick-or-treating, candy giveaways, games, music and haunted houses, with an allergy-friendly candy station, 305 Hive's guide notes.

As the light fades, the map widens. On Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, kids' trick-or-treating with candy stations runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the promenade then turns into an adult Halloween block party from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. with live music, performers and DJs, per Miami on the Cheap's Lincoln Road listing. The Halloween Fun Zone at Biscayne Park fills the Ed Burke Recreation Center, 11400 NE 9th Court, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with games, prizes, candy, a costume contest, rides and music. Downtown Coconut Grove's Fuller Street comes alive with storytelling at Books & Books, a live DJ, trick-or-treating, a scavenger hunt and a costume contest.

Later starts suit the north end of the county: the City of Hialeah's Trunk or Treat at Milander Park and Miami Lakes' Nightmare on Montrose at Veterans Park both run from 6 to 10 p.m. With Halloween on a Saturday and showers in the day's forecast at a 27 percent chance, the organized events give families a set route and a set end time - and the listings advise checking each event's own page before heading out for any last-minute schedule or parking changes.
