Halloween Costumes 2026: Google's Trending List Puts Buddy the Unicorn on Top, With Dolly Parton for Kids and Centipede for Pets

If Miami's costume racks look picked over this morning, Google's numbers explain why. The search company's 2026 Halloween trends list - reported Oct. 30 and read by the desk this run - puts Buddy the Unicorn as the top trending costume overall; the costume was searched for most from September 6 to 12, dipped, and was projected by Google to grow again this week. Needoh ranks No. 2 overall.

The list splits by wearer. For kids, Dolly Parton is No. 1. For pets, Centipede is No. 1 - the costume most likely to be spotted on a dog in a Miami yard tonight. And for couples going out together, Disco Scooby and Shaggy are the top search, according to the same Google list.

Google notes these are nationwide trends and that the top costume can differ by area - the list is a snapshot of what the country searched, not a Miami ranking. For anyone still deciding, tonight's verified local options were carried by this station on Friday: HalloWYN in Wynwood from 7 p.m., trick-or-treating on Coral Gables' Miracle Mile in the afternoon, and Miami Gardens' free Fall Festival from 5 to 9 p.m.
