1,000 Free Rides Are on Offer in Miami-Dade Tonight to Keep Halloween Drivers Off the Road Drunk
A Miami injury law firm is putting 1,000 free Uber ride vouchers - one one-way ride, up to $15 - in front of Miami-Dade residents for Halloween night, from 5 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.
Miami-Dade residents heading out for Halloween have a free way home tonight. Amanda Demanda Injury Lawyers is offering 1,000 free Uber ride vouchers for Halloween night, in what the firm calls its "Ride Safe This Halloween" campaign - a direct response, it says, to the spike in drunk-driving crashes the county sees every October 31.
The terms, from the firm's Oct. 27 release: each voucher covers one one-way ride to a single destination, for rides taken between 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, and 5 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, Miami local time - a window the release notes runs past the 2 a.m. clock change - with a maximum value of $15 and a limit of one reimbursement per person. Vouchers are limited and first-come, first-served; residents sign up ahead of the holiday with a name, email and phone number at the firm's Halloween page.
"Every year, we see what impaired driving does to families here in Miami-Dade," the firm's founder, attorney Amanda Demanda, said in the release. The firm serves injury clients across Florida and Texas, with offices in Miami, Tampa and Houston. The offer is a voucher program run by the firm, not a county service - the desk is carrying it as a Halloween-night service item because the ride home is the decision that matters tonight.
