Westbound I-395 Closes at Biscayne Boulevard Sunday, Monday and Tuesday Nights Before the New Ramp Opens Wednesday
Drivers leaving Miami Beach on the MacArthur Causeway face three straight nights of full westbound I-395 closures at Biscayne Boulevard - 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday and Monday, then Tuesday 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. - before the new ramp to southbound I-95 opens Wednesday morning.

The MacArthur Causeway's westbound run into downtown is about to have a long three nights. All lanes of westbound Interstate 395 will close at Biscayne Boulevard on Sunday and Monday nights, November 1 and 2, from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., according to the Florida Department of Transportation's I-395/SR 836/I-95 project team - so crews can install drainage pipes across the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) near the Northwest 12th Avenue ramp. The northbound and southbound I-95 ramps to westbound SR 836 close on the same schedule.
The signed detour for Dolphin Expressway drivers: take the Biscayne Boulevard exit (Exit 2), go west on Northeast 13th Street, north on Northeast First Avenue, west on Northwest 14th Street, south on Northwest 12th Avenue and west on Northwest Seventh Street to the SR 836 on-ramp at Northwest 17th Avenue. One piece of good news inside the closure: the I-395 ramps to I-95 stay open for drivers entering from the downtown Miami ramp.
Tuesday night is the finale. Westbound I-395 and the downtown Miami ramp to I-395 close again on Tuesday, November 3, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., so crews can open the new ramp - and on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, the new ramp from westbound I-395 to southbound I-95 opens to traffic, the project team said. Schedules can change with weather and field conditions; the project's alerts are at i395-miami.com and live conditions are on FL511.
