New Westbound I-395 Ramp to Southbound I-95 Opens Wednesday Morning, After a Tuesday Night Closure at Biscayne Boulevard
Downtown Miami drivers get a new ramp geometry on Wednesday morning, November 4 — and one overnight closure on Tuesday, November 3, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., to open it.

A new ramp from westbound I-395 to southbound I-95 opens to traffic on Wednesday morning, November 4, the I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project announced in its October 30 traffic alert. Drivers heading to southbound I-95 will enter the new ramp approximately 500 feet sooner than they do today, and the new configuration eliminates an existing merge point to improve traffic flow: one left lane leads to the new southbound I-95 ramp, two center lanes continue to westbound State Road 836, and one right lane leads to northbound I-95, with new overhead signs guiding drivers.
To open the ramp, westbound I-395 will be closed at Biscayne Boulevard, and the Downtown Miami ramp to I-395 will also be closed, on Tuesday evening, November 3, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. — hours that fall on Election Night, after polls close at 7 p.m. The project's signed detour sends drivers out at the Biscayne Boulevard ramp, south on Biscayne Boulevard and right on NE 6 Street, then right on NW 3 Avenue for the northbound I-95 ramp or left on NW 3 Court for the southbound I-95 ramp.
The closure and the new ramp are part of the long-running reconstruction of the I-395, SR 836 and I-95 interchange in downtown Miami. Drivers who use the corridor on Wednesday morning should expect the new lane pattern — and the earlier ramp entrance — on their first trip through it.
