Westbound I-395 Closes Again Monday Night at Biscayne Boulevard — and the New Southbound I-95 Ramp Opens Wednesday
All westbound lanes close at 11 p.m. Monday until 5:30 a.m. for drainage work over the Dolphin, the I-95 ramps to westbound SR 836 close with them, and the detour runs through downtown — for the second of three straight nights.

Drivers leaving Miami Beach late Monday face the same wall they met Sunday night. All lanes of westbound Interstate 395 close at Biscayne Boulevard from 11 p.m. Monday to 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Florida Department of Transportation's I-395/SR 836/I-95 project team, so crews can install drainage pipes across the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) near the Northwest 12th Avenue ramp. The northbound and southbound I-95 ramps to westbound SR 836 close in the same window.
The posted way around it is a downtown loop: take the Biscayne Boulevard exit (Exit 2), go west on Northeast 13th Street, north on Northeast First Avenue, west on Northwest 14th Street, south on Northwest 12th Avenue and west on Northwest Seventh Street to the SR 836 on-ramp at Northwest 17th Avenue. One piece of the interchange stays open — the I-395 ramps to I-95 remain available to drivers entering from the downtown Miami ramp. Live conditions are on FL511, and the project posts its alerts and detour maps at i395-miami.com.
Tuesday night is the bigger change. Westbound I-395 and the downtown Miami ramp close again from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday so crews can open the new ramp from westbound I-395 to southbound I-95 on Wednesday morning, Nov. 4. Drivers will reach southbound I-95 about 500 feet sooner than today, and the new layout removes a merge: the left lane leads to southbound I-95, the two center lanes continue to SR 836 and the right lane goes to northbound I-95, under new overhead signs. Three closed nights buy one permanent improvement — but Monday night's drive home from the beach still goes through downtown.
