John Washington III Says Politicians Should Fight for the People, Not Their Own Careers

John Washington III Says Politicians Should Fight for the People, Not Their Own Careers (Miami Watch News)

John Washington III, a candidate for president in 2028, pressed his case on Saturday against elected officials he said have turned their backs on the people who elected them. In a public statement, John Washington III argued that for years politicians have passed laws that take more money from the public's pockets and strip away rights, and that now, with the system turning on them, those same politicians want the American people to stand up and fight for them.

"WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE NEEDED YOU?" he wrote. John Washington III said voters elect officials to fight for them, not to become part of the system hurting them, and he pointed to a familiar cycle: candidates beg for votes, money and loyalty during elections, then go back to business as usual once they win. He asked what the public has to show for it.

John Washington III said he is done fighting to save political careers while everyday Americans struggle to protect their rights and freedoms. "YOUR POLITICAL BATTLES ARE NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY!" he wrote. "I'm fighting for the PEOPLE, not politicians who forgot who they work for!"

"YOU WORK FOR US. WE DON'T WORK FOR YOU!" he wrote, closing with the line he has made a refrain of his campaign: "THE PEOPLE COME FIRST. PERIOD!"
