Three Killed on I-95 in Martin County: A Camry Struck a Parked Trailer Near Palm City, the Highway Patrol Says
A 34-year-old man, a 5-year-old boy and a woman died when a northbound Camry left the outside lane and struck a parked Kenworth trailer two miles north of the Martin Highway exit late Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. An 11-year-old girl was flown to a Palm Beach County hospital.

Three people were killed late Saturday night on Interstate 95 in Martin County when the car they were riding in left the roadway and struck a parked tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol account reported Sunday. The crash was reported at 11:05 p.m. on October 31, about two miles north of the Martin Highway exit in the Palm City area.
The Highway Patrol said a northbound 2017 Toyota Camry traveling in the outside lane went onto the right paved shoulder 'for undetermined reasons' and its right front side struck the rear left corner of a 53-foot box trailer towed by a 2012 Kenworth that was parked on the shoulder. The Camry then rotated across all three travel lanes before coming to rest. Killed were three of the Camry's passengers: a 34-year-old Port St. Lucie man, a 5-year-old Port St. Lucie boy, and a female whose age and city of residence were not specified in the FHP account. The Highway Patrol released no names.
The Camry's driver, a 31-year-old Port St. Lucie woman, sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to a hospital. An 11-year-old Port St. Lucie girl, also a passenger in the Camry, sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown by helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center in Palm Beach County. The Kenworth's driver, a 60-year-old Miami man, was not hurt.
The northbound lanes of I-95 were closed after the crash, with northbound traffic diverted onto Martin Highway while troopers worked the scene. The Highway Patrol's investigation continues; the account gives no cause beyond the Camry's unexplained move onto the shoulder, and this desk will update the file when the FHP releases more.
