Florida vs Georgia Score: Georgia Beats the Gators 27-8 on Four Turnovers in Atlanta

No. 3 Georgia forced four turnovers, returned a fumble 66 yards for a touchdown and built a 24-0 halftime lead to beat No. 17 Florida 27-8 on Saturday — the rivalry's first meeting outside Jacksonville since 1995, played under a closed roof in Atlanta.

Florida vs Georgia Score: Georgia Beats the Gators 27-8 on Four Turnovers in Atlanta (Miami Watch News)

ATLANTA — The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party moved indoors this year, and Georgia turned it into a turnover party. No. 3 Georgia took advantage of four Florida turnovers and beat the No. 17 Gators 27-8 on Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Associated Press reported — the Bulldogs' sixth straight win in the rivalry.

The decisive play came late in the first half. Florida's second quarterback, Tramell Jones Jr., was sacked by Quintavius Johnson and fumbled, and Chris Cole picked up the loose ball and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown — his second long fumble-return score of the season. Bo Walker and Nate Frazier added 1-yard scoring runs as Georgia built a 24-0 halftime lead, and the Bulldogs outrushed Florida 217-48 for the afternoon.

Florida's quarterback day unraveled in stages. Starter Aaron Philo, back after missing the Texas game with a right shoulder injury, was benched after throwing two interceptions. Jones threw an end-zone interception from the Georgia 3 in the third quarter before finally ending the shutout bid late: a 23-yard fourth-down pass to Luke Harpring set up Jones' 2-yard touchdown run, and Jadan Baugh's conversion pass to Dallas Wilson made it 24-8. Baugh, who began the day leading the SEC with 13 rushing touchdowns, was held to 38 yards on 17 carries.

The game was played in Atlanta, with the roof closed, because the rivalry's usual neutral home — EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville — is under renovation. Next year's game is scheduled for Tampa before the series returns to Jacksonville. Florida (5-3, 3-3 SEC), which was trying for a second straight win over a top-10 team after upsetting Texas, hosts Oklahoma next Saturday. Georgia (7-1, 5-1) gets another ranked opponent at No. 12 Mississippi.
