A $50,000 Grant for Full Pantries: His Hands and Feet Wins the 2026 Jason Jenkins Legacy Grant

A $50,000 Grant for Full Pantries: His Hands and Feet Wins the 2026 Jason Jenkins Legacy Grant (Miami Watch News)

The most consequential Dolphins announcement of the week was not about football. The Miami Dolphins Foundation announced Monday that His Hands and Feet, Inc. is the recipient of the 2026 Jason Jenkins Legacy Grant — $50,000, provided by the foundation with support from Gallagher, to expand the organization's Haven of Hope Pantry Initiative, a food-security program that partners directly with local schools so students and their families have access to food throughout the school year. The pantry currently serves approximately 1,200 students across five partner schools every year.

His Hands and Feet, founded and led by Ydania Peralta, is a Miami-Dade nonprofit providing food, clothing, hygiene products and school supplies through school pantries and community outreach — shelf-stable foods, snacks, breakfast and lunch items and family meal bags, plus year-round emergency aid. 'His Hands and Feet is an incredible organization tackling food insecurity here in South Florida,' Elizabeth Jenkins, Jason Jenkins's wife and Executive Board Chair of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, said in the team's announcement. 'We selected them because their passion for serving families across Miami-Dade County is changing lives, providing children with basic necessities so they can focus on learning, growing and thriving.' The organization was recognized during Sunday's game against the Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium, with an on-field check presentation alongside Elizabeth Jenkins and Gallagher's Austin Sanders.

The grant, established in 2025 in honor of Jason Jenkins and his family, is awarded annually to a 501(c)(3) driving long-term change in underserved communities. Monday's announcement also closes the fourth annual Football UNITES Jason Jenkins Days of Service, the month-long October initiative in Jenkins's honor, in which Dolphins players, alumni, cheerleaders and staff joined service projects across South Florida — more than 650 volunteers, the team says, positively impacting nearly 65,000 people. The legacy being honored is a community one, and this year's recipient spends it in school cafeterias and pantry shelves.
