Swimmers Advised to Stay Out of the Water at Crandon Park South on Key Biscayne
The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County has issued a water quality advisory for Crandon Park South after tests completed Thursday showed Enterococcus bacteria above the state's recreational water criteria.

Anyone planning a beach day on Key Biscayne this weekend should pick a different stretch of sand for swimming. The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County (DOH-Miami-Dade) issued a water quality advisory on Friday for Crandon Park South, at Key Biscayne, FL 33149 - the only location named in the advisory.
Tests completed on Thursday, October 29, indicate that the water quality at Crandon Park South does not meet the recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria recommended by the Florida Department of Health, the department said. The sampling was conducted during regular water quality monitoring and showed bacteria levels above the level established by state guidelines.
DOH-Miami-Dade advises against any water-related activities at this location due to an increased risk of illness in swimmers. The advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level, the department said - so the all-clear, when it comes, will be announced by the county health department, not assumed.
