Westbound I-395 Closes at Biscayne Boulevard Tonight at 11, Again on Election Night — and the New Southbound I-95 Ramp Opens Wednesday
Drivers leaving Miami Beach late tonight face a full westbound I-395 closure at Biscayne Boulevard from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The same closure returns Tuesday night, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. — and on Wednesday morning, the new ramp to southbound I-95 opens about 500 feet sooner than the old one.

The MacArthur Causeway's westbound side goes dark tonight. All westbound lanes of Interstate 395 close at Biscayne Boulevard on Monday night from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., so crews can install drainage pipes across the Dolphin Expressway (State Road 836) near the Northwest 12th Avenue ramp, according to the Florida Department of Transportation's I-395/SR 836/I-95 project team. The northbound and southbound I-95 ramps to westbound SR 836 close with it. The posted detour for Dolphin-bound drivers runs off at Biscayne Boulevard (Exit 2), west on Northeast 13th Street, north on Northeast First Avenue, west on Northwest 14th Street, south on Northwest 12th Avenue and west on Northwest Seventh Street to the SR 836 on-ramp at Northwest 17th Avenue. The I-395 ramps to I-95 stay open for drivers entering from the downtown Miami ramp.
Tuesday night, the closure comes back — bigger, and on Election Night. Westbound I-395 and the downtown Miami ramp to I-395 close Tuesday evening, November 3, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., so crews can open the new ramp. The project's detour sends drivers off at Biscayne Boulevard, south to Northeast Sixth Street and west to Northwest Seventh Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street to reach SR 836 at Northwest 17th Avenue; drivers continuing to I-95 use Northwest Third Avenue for the northbound ramp or Northwest Third Court for the southbound ramp. Anyone driving home from an election-night gathering downtown or on the Beach should price the detour into the trip now, not at 10 p.m. tomorrow.
Wednesday morning is the payoff the project has been selling for weeks. The new ramp from westbound I-395 to southbound I-95 opens to traffic, and drivers heading south will enter it about 500 feet sooner than they do today. The new configuration eliminates an existing merge point: one left lane to the new southbound I-95 ramp, two center lanes continuing to westbound SR 836, and one right lane to northbound I-95, with new overhead signs guiding the split. This desk previewed these dates on October 31 (SQ-20261031-011 and SQ-20261031-028). Tonight and tomorrow night, they stop being a preview. Schedules can change; the project's alerts are at i395-miami.com and live conditions are on FL511.
