GTA 6 Is 17 Days Out, and Its City Is Miami in Everything but Name
'gta6' is the most-searched term in America this morning. The game lands Nov. 19 in Vice City — Rockstar's version of Miami, inside a fictional Florida called Leonida — and the confirmed facts are narrower than the hype.

The most-searched term in the United States on the Google Trends snapshot read by this newsroom overnight was not the election. It was 'gta6'. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Thursday, Nov. 19 — 17 days from Monday — on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its setting is the state of Leonida, a fictional Florida whose biggest city, Vice City, is Miami's counterpart in everything but name. For a city that has spent two decades as a video-game postcard, the homecoming is a local story.
The confirmed layer is thinner than the coverage around it, and it is worth stating plainly. Rockstar and Take-Two have held the Nov. 19, 2026 date for a year, restated it in the Oct. 15 launch trailer, and priced the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Pre-orders opened June 25, digital pre-load begins Nov. 12, and there is no PC version announced and no version for the older consoles. The story follows two leads, Jason and Lucia. Claims beyond that — map sizes, animation counts, police systems — circulate as reporting without a Rockstar statement behind them, and this newsroom treats them as unconfirmed.
The wait explains the search traffic. The game's first date was a vague 2025 window announced in December 2023, then May 26, 2026, then the November date that finally held. Miami players who pre-ordered digitally can pre-load from Nov. 12, a week before launch. What the city gets on Nov. 19 is a mirror: its beaches, causeways and neon reimagined inside Leonida, close enough that locals will spend the first week doing what they did in 2002 — driving the map to check what the game got right about home.
