FIU Falls 49-10 at Liberty for a Third Straight Conference USA Loss
The Panthers (3-5, 1-3 CUSA) trailed 28-0 at halftime in Lynchburg as first-place Liberty (7-1, 4-0) scored in every phase early and never let Miami's FIU back into its Saturday afternoon game.

FIU's road trip to Lynchburg turned into a long afternoon. The Panthers fell 49-10 to Liberty on Saturday, their third consecutive loss in Conference USA play, according to FIU Athletics' official report. FIU is now 3-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference; Liberty, the league's first-place team, improved to 7-1 and 4-0.
The game was decided in the second quarter. Liberty led just 7-0 after one, then tacked on 21 points in the second quarter to build a 28-0 halftime lead, FIU Athletics said. The Flames received the ball to open the second half and scored another touchdown, taking a 35-0 lead that sealed the result; the Panthers' 10 points came with the game out of reach.
For a Miami program trying to hold a bowl path, the math is now tight: at 3-5, FIU needs to win three of its remaining games to reach six wins, and it has now dropped three straight conference games after opening league play with a win. The Sportradar match record cross-checks the final, 49-10, at Williams Stadium.
FIU returns home to Miami to regroup, with the final month of the regular season deciding whether the Panthers' season extends into December.
